Hello, I’m Ana, an interior designer trying to make sense of this trend forecasting thing. This blog has been developed as part of the module Trend Forecasting in Interior Design, from the National Design Academy/De Montfort University MA Interior Design.

MONDAY MOTIVATION 🦹🏽‍♀️

This is my daughter on her last day of primary school. We were lucky enough last summer to be able to throw a socially distanced party for our year 6 leavers, and I brought my camera and a few props, including this chalkboard. The children would come and write what they wanted to be when they grew up, and this is what my daughter wrote. It worries me a little bit 🤣 but also makes me super proud. A reminder that there’s always someone out there looking at you and thinking you’re an inspiration.

Have you ever dreamed of having something in your home that is not (what is considered to be) conventional?
.
For ages I really really wanted a hammock - it’s a very Brazilian thing and I wanted my house to reflect my heritage too. But I didn’t have a place to put a hammock on 😱 until one day I looked at that bay and thought “I am sure I could have a hammock there” - except it’s a very small space so not suitable for traditionally sized hammocks. So I looked and looked and looked and then I finally found what I was looking for 😍 I hmmmed and aaaahed until I took the plunge and I have to say this is now one of the most popular corners of the house. Husband tried sitting on it once and went ‘nope!’ but me and the child (and her friends!) and the cats love it.
.
Sometimes adding something unconventional is what makes your home *YOUR* home and not everyone else’s.
.

I’ve been waiting for the right light to take a

I’ve been waiting for the right light to take a photo of my finished bureau 💕 it’s not perfect, and it’s not meant to be: it was made to be a potting table.
.
I bought it from the @the_bhf furniture shop in Bridgend, and painted it using @ronseal.uk Garden Paint in Purple Berry and White Ash. The beautiful knobs are from @knobblesandbobblesltd and @wmorrisandco wallpaper from @jclaytonandco ~ it was a super enjoyable project and made me reflect a lot about my practice, but I don’t want to ramble now!

Oh, hello! Is there anyone still out there? 😬 I’ve been swamped with work from my masters in the past few weeks and ended up letting insta go for a little bit - but today I decided to (finally!) make something I had been planning to make for aaaages: a cushion! It’s my very first one, so be kind to me 🤣 it has already been claimed by the child, so I think at least one person likes it ☺️

SHAMELESS PLUG O’CLOCK 🤣 Some of you may know that my daughter plays for the U11 girls team at @tonduunited so here’s 3 things I wanted to share with you:

1. The club is one of the community projects that you can vote for at Tesco Bags of Help in Bridgend this January. Please consider giving us your tokens, it would help the club immensely. 💕

2. To help raise funds for the girls’ end of season tour, I will be making and selling scrunchies ☺️ DM me to see the final product, fabric samples and any requests you may have. Handmade in Wales! 😉

2019 was a tough year. Physically tough. I’m 2 organs down, so I’m happy to be get to the end alive. Everything else was neglected - perhaps more than it should have been - so I am grateful for all of you who stuck around. Thank you for the bottom of my heart.
